System-On-Chip (SOC) Technologies has recently released the SOC-Mcodec chipset family, which are FPGA based ASICs that meet the demand of product developers who require video/audio codecs in ASIC format.
The use-cases for the SOC-Mcodec chips are the same as for traditional ASICs, where the input and output pins are specified, taking the advantages of FPGA silicon manufacturing technology, such as 10nm chip production class, along with the high-performance codec IP cores, the SOC FPGA-based ASICs provide significantly superior performance than traditional ASIC codecs. Additionally, the SOC–Mcodec ASICs can be customized according to customer requirements, and are also upgradable.
